Abstract

The court is an indispensable institution in the administration of the justice system in all jurisdiction; municipal and international. Generally, court structure is hierarchical. Nigeria a common law country and France a civil law country both have the hierarchical court structure. The International criminal court, perhaps because it does not administer municipal laws, does not operate the hierarchical structure.

This paper embarks on the voyage of discovery of the appropriateness or otherwise of the court structures in Nigeria, France and the International Criminal Court.

The concluding part of this disquisition will provide the recipe for strengthening the structures to make for a more effective administration of the justice system.
