Security provides a guarantee for environmental stability and self-preservation. People may carry out their activities inevitably in society, and security must not be overlooked. Armed robbery, murder, manslaughter, assault, abduction, child theft, slave selling, attempted suicide, serious bodily injury and wounding, rape, and unnatural offences are not, however, exclusive to urban areas since crime is pervasive. Since May 29, 1999, Kogi state's governments have attempted, with varying degrees of success, to reduce the rising crime rate in Okene; however, the end result has not been satisfactory, which is a major reason for the creation of a native security system for crime prevention and management. The data collected were content analysed. The study revealed that the indigenous security structures have been in existence to control crimes and also showed that there is homogeneity in a heterogeneous society of the Ebira group
